by

Parents’ Turn is a support group open to caregivers of adolescents in the San Francisco Bay Area. Social Determinants of Health

Why Social Determinants of Health Matter

by

Huckleberry’s Commitment to Youth Young people’s health and wellbeing are often thought of as medical care, focusing on vaccines, checkups, and treatment for illness. But equitable and meaningful health for young people goes far deeper. It’s shaped by where they live, whether they have stable housing, if they feel safe in their communities, their access […]

Our Mission in Action

by

As 2025 comes to a close, we remain committed to our legacy of working in solidarity with young people and their families to advance their personal growth and social equity. Our program outcomes from this past year illustrate how we work with families and empower young people through services that bring them closer to the […]

Mia’s Story

by

When Mia* walked through our doors at 17, she had just lost her family home for being transgender. She was also weeks away from high school graduation with dreams of becoming a nurse. Most teenagers shouldn’t have to choose between their identity and a roof over their head. But Mia faced that impossible choice and […]

Personal Growth and Social Equity Through College Access, Mental Health, and Newcomer Services

by

This past school year, our Marin team showed up for students in powerful ways. We worked to eliminate barriers to college access, provided essential mental health support, and fostered a sense of community among young Newcomers—children and adolescents who have recently arrived in the country, including immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers —as they adapt to […]

Reflective & Grateful

by

Our justice team recently had the honor of gathering with Cal Wellness and fellow grantee partners for a day dedicated to rest, reflection, and reconnection. The foundation created space for grantees to pause, to step away from the urgency of the work, and remember what grounds and sustains us in community. In a field that […]

Huckleberry Youth Programs

Changing the System, Changing Lives. 💜

At Huckleberry Youth Programs, we’ve been providing youth services for decades. But on a deeper level, we’re working to transform systems of care to meet young people where they are when it counts the most.

Our Theory of Change is rooted in the belief that when we offer holistic, youth-centered care in a safe, nonjudgmental space, we help individual youth stabilize, creating a ripple effect that advances social equity.

By meeting basic needs and partnering with young people to foster personal growth, we are actively:

✨ Improving mental health & emotional healing

✨ Developing social-emotional skills that build leaders in our homes and communities

✨ Helping youth build established, sustainable support networks

✨ Reducing justice system involvement

We’re not just providing resources; we’re partnering with young people to break down barriers and build a more just future for the next generation.

We believe that when all youth succeed, our entire community thrives. Thank you for being part of this effort.

Our team walked and cheered our way through Golden Gate Park for the SF AIDS Walk 2026 🌟

Every step was for our community: for the people who show up for each other, and for the health services that keep SF youth safer and stronger. 💜
The walk may be over, but you can still support our team's fundraising! Every dollar goes directly toward Huckleberry, providing health services for the young people who need them most.

🔗 Donate via the link in our bio. ✨
