Huckleberry’s Young Professionals Board

Want to Be Part of Something More?

Join Huckleberry’s Young Professionals Board!

The Huckleberry Youth Programs Young Professionals Board, Sept. 2019

In 1967, Huckleberry opened its flagship program, Huckleberry House, the first runaway  youth shelter in the nation, at a time when running away as a youth  was considered a crime.  Fifty-two years later, we have grown to provide 6,500 youth annually with a continuum of services that remains rooted, just as it did in 1967, in the fundamental rights of young people to be safe, healthy, educated, and treated justly.

What  We Do:  Over the years, our services have grown to include primary and reproductive care, counseling, case management, health education, juvenile justice diversion, and college access to under served youth and families.

Huckleberry’s longevity is a testament to the agency’s values, and our ability to adapt and grow to meet the ever-changing needs of our community. Each year, we host two major FUNdraisers along with smaller, social gatherings like Cocktails for a Cause/bar nights, shopping events, exclusive dining experiences, and shows/performances.

We are seeking Young Professionals who are ages 25 to 35 and are passionate about our mission, and interested in using their  knowledge, skills, expertise, and network to raise awareness and mobilize support for Huckleberry Youth Programs.

Why You Should Join:

  • Because our mission resonates with you
  • To grow your professional development skills
  • Because you want to give back to an awesome cause
  • To sharpen your management and leadership skills
  • To hang out/network with other community-conscious young professionals

"African Americans have 2.3x the infant mortality rate as non-Hispanic whites. Regarding COVID-19 while Black Americans represent 13% of the population in the states reporting racial/ethnic info, they account for about 34% of COVID deaths in those states.'"https://tinyurl.com/dsdke45t
