Huckleberry Youth Programs proudly announces receipt of a $600,000 grant award over the next three years fromย Elevate Youth California, a program of theย California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS). Elevate Youth is a statewide program that prioritizes youth leadership in under-resourced communities and supports organizations, like Huckleberry, working with youth to build their power and leadership skills.
This significant and transformative investment underscores Huckleberryโs commitment to empowering transitional-aged youth (ages 18-24) of color in San Francisco.
Elevate Youthโs generous support will expand our reach and impact, championing youth leadership, civic engagement, and peer-to-peer support. Huckleberry’s funded program called, โCreate-To-Activateโ, engages participants at theย Huckleberry Youth Health Centerย in producing Zines, which offer evidence-based information onย harm reduction strategies for substance use prevention.
Together, Huckleberry and Elevate Youth will shiftย narratives and policies from punishment to prevention in an effort toย empower youth, enacting positive change for a brighter, healthier tomorrow.
