by

The purpose of the “Stop the Hate” funding (Huckleberry was awarded $625,000 over two years) is to provide support and services to victims of hate crimes, survivors, and their families, and facilitate hate incident or hate crime prevention measures.

Douglas Styles, PsyD, Huckleberry’s Executive Director/CEO said of the award, “We at Huckleberry Youth Programs are very proud to be part of the California initiative to reduce hate incidents in our community. The CADSS “Stop the Hate” grant will allow Huckleberry to hire three more counselors in San Francisco and Marin to provide support services to youth victims of hate incidents and hate crimes. By addressing hate head-on, our vision is to create more inclusive, healthy, and engaging communities for all people.”

“Stop the Hate” Support and Services may include:

  • Direct services for victims and survivors of hate incidents and hate crimes and their families, including mental and complementary health services; wellness and community healing; legal services; navigation, case management, and referrals;

  • Prevention services, including arts and cultural work, youth development, senior safety and escort programs, safety planning, training; and cross-racial alliance work; and

  • Intervention services, including outreach, training, restorative justice, coordination with local government and institutional partners, and coordinated regional rapid response.

Huckleberry Youth Programs

Changing the System, Changing Lives. 💜

At Huckleberry Youth Programs, we’ve been providing youth services for decades. But on a deeper level, we’re working to transform systems of care to meet young people where they are when it counts the most.

Our Theory of Change is rooted in the belief that when we offer holistic, youth-centered care in a safe, nonjudgmental space, we help individual youth stabilize, creating a ripple effect that advances social equity.

By meeting basic needs and partnering with young people to foster personal growth, we are actively:

✨ Improving mental health & emotional healing

✨ Developing social-emotional skills that build leaders in our homes and communities

✨ Helping youth build established, sustainable support networks

✨ Reducing justice system involvement

We’re not just providing resources; we’re partnering with young people to break down barriers and build a more just future for the next generation.

We believe that when all youth succeed, our entire community thrives. Thank you for being part of this effort.

Our team walked and cheered our way through Golden Gate Park for the SF AIDS Walk 2026 🌟

Every step was for our community: for the people who show up for each other, and for the health services that keep SF youth safer and stronger. 💜
The walk may be over, but you can still support our team's fundraising! Every dollar goes directly toward Huckleberry, providing health services for the young people who need them most.
