Meet Our New Division Director of Safety Programs
At Huckleberry Youth Programs, we believe that the most effective solutions for our community can come from within. That’s why we are thrilled to announce that Xanat Rodriguez Holyoake has been promoted to Division Director of Safety Programs, a leadership role that embodies our commitment to internal growth, institutional knowledge, and unwavering solidarity with the Bay Area youth and families we serve.
Why Leadership from Within Matters
Promoting leaders like Xanat elevates team members who have lived our values on the front lines, ensuring continuity for the young people who rely on us for crucial services. Xanat has been a driving force behind our efforts for several years now, and her deep understanding of our organization ensures that we continue to provide consistent, high-quality support to those who need it most.
In her new role, Xanat will oversee our vital San Francisco safety initiatives, including the Huckleberry House crisis shelter and the Huckleberry Advocacy and Response Team (HART). Her expertise in managing complex, mission-driven teams and her background in trauma-informed, strengths-based advocacy make her uniquely qualified to bridge our programs and deepen our community impact.
A Career Built on Youth Advocacy
Xanat’s journey with Huckleberry is a testament to the transformative power of youth work. Having previously served as Program Director at Huckleberry House, she understands that creating a safe space for teens is about more than just resources—it’s about ensuring youth realize their own strengths and power. Her work has been recognized by the City of San Francisco, and she continues to be a vocal advocate for student voices, often collaborating with local partners like 10,000 Degrees to amplify the stories of the next generation.
When we asked Xanat what keeps her motivated in this demanding field, her answer was simple: “Knowing that you’re changing the lives of youth and their families.” When Xanat isn’t leading our safety teams, you can likely find her hanging out at the local farmers’ market with an iced coffee in hand or cuddling with her dog, Mango.
Join Us in the Mission
Xanat’s story is just one example of the rewarding, impactful career paths available at Huckleberry Youth Programs. Whether it’s through direct advocacy, shelter support, or community engagement, our team is dedicated to advancing social equity and providing transformative opportunities for vulnerable youth every single day.
