Stefanie F. Smith, Ph.D, recently joined Huckleberry Youth programs as Director of Research and Evaluation.  Stefanie is a licensed clinical psychologist with a specialty in child abuse, neglect, and complex trauma.  Previous to HYP, Stefanie was a HSA Assistant Clinical Faculty at UCSF, working as a psychologist at the Child and Adolescent Support Advocacy and Resource Center (CASARC), and a clinician, associate research director of Community Services, and research coordinator at the Trauma Center at JRI in Brookline, Massachusetts.  She has published numerous articles in the field of trauma, including "Community Based Acute Post Traumatic Stress Management: A Description and Evaluation of a Psychosocial Intervention Continuum", in the Harvard Psychiatric Review, 12(4) and "Complex Trauma in Children and Adolescents", a white paper for the National Child Traumatic Stress Network. She has experience presenting and teaching in the area of  critical incident responding, PTSD and complex trauma at the local and national levels, including at the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies Annual Conferences.  She has also has served as an adjunct professor at Emmanuel College and University of Massachusetts Boston.  Currently she holds an adjunct position at Alliant International University.  Prior to her career as a psychologist, Stefanie was a credentialed high school teacher  and a girls’ volleyball and basketball coach in the Bay Area.  Stefanie remains active, spending any free time playing golf, hiking, skiing, surfing, and rock climbing.
