What is Anorexia?
Anorexia Nervosa is an eating disorder in which a person has an extreme and irrational fear of body fat and becoming fat. The disease is characterized by an iron determination to become thinner and thinner. People with Anorexia have a distorted perception of their own body shape and weight, usually seeing themselves as fat even when they are very, very thin. Anorexia can cause abnormal hormonal functioning, including an absence of menstrual cycles in females and in males, a lowering of sexual function and desire.
