What is PID?
PID stands for Pelvic Inflammatory Disease. This disease infects a womanıs tubes or ovaries or both. PID becomes a problem when you have a sexually transmitted disease that is not treated promptly. Signs of PID can be mild or severe. The main sign is pain or a tight feeling in the abdomen. Other signs include: fever, a smelly discharge from the vagina; bleeding between periods or after sex; pain during sex; nausea or vomiting. PID is a serious disease and can even be fatal. If untreated, this disease can cause severe abdominal pain; make getting pregnant difficult, even many years later; cause tubal pregnancy; or infect your babyıs eyes or lungs. If you suspect you have this infection, get tested and treated immediately and tell your partner to get tested as well.
