Huckleberry House Youth housed in the temporary shelter receive a wide range of mental health services, including assessment, individual, family, and group therapies. A dedicated therapist at the youth shelter provides family reunification services to all clients. Interventions are designed to address stabilization of runaway behavior, parental/adolescent conflict, physical/emotional abuse, depression, suicide, and substance abuse. Youth and their families often engage with a therapist during the shelter stay and elect to continue with short-term aftercare services or longer-term counseling through our Counseling Program. Family reunification has proven to be a very beneficial and highly utilized service. Our therapist focuses on resolving immediate family crises and works to develop a comprehensive plan of care that will address longer-term strategies for the family. Our diverse team of professionals can deliver culturally and linguistically competent services.
Huckleberry Community Assessment and Resource Center (CARC) Research shows that juvenile offenders have very high co-occurrence of mental health issues. The mental health staff provide individual, group and family therapy in close coordination with the case management team.
